Resumo A Floresta com Araucária (FA) é uma das formações florestais da Mata Atlântica mais devastadas, com uma grande quantidade de áreas que precisam ser restauradas. Dessa maneira, a proposta deste estudo foi comparar dois modelos de plantio em áreas de FA e determinar atributos funcionais de quatro espécies nativas para restauração ecológica -Schinus terebinthifolius, Psidium cattleianum, Eugenia involucrata e Ocotea odorifera. Para isso, o estudo comparou sobrevivência, crescimento inicial, cobertura de copa e cobertura do solo por 18 meses entre o modelo de plantio sistemático (espécie pioneira intercalada com espécies não-pioneiras na mesma linha de plantio) e modelo sistemático (espécies pioneiras e não-pioneiras distribuídas aleatoriamente nas parcelas). Os atributos funcionais avaliados foram: crescimento médio em altura, sobrevivência, suscetibilidade à geada, diâmetro de copa e frequência de herbivoria. Não houve diferenças na sobrevivência, crescimento inicial e cobertura do solo entre os modelos de plantio. Schinus terebinthifolius apresentou 87% dos atributos desejáveis para uso em projetos de restauração na FA com altas taxas de sobrevivência e crescimento (crescimento em altura e diâmetro de copa). As espécies não pioneiras tiveram uma taxa de sobrevivência de 50% ou menos e não são recomendadas para o plantio conjunto com as espécies pioneiras com implementação durante a estação de geada em FA.

Abstract Araucaria forest (AF) is one of the most devastated vegetation types in the Atlantic Forest, with a high percentage of areas to be restored. The purpose of this study was to compare two planting models in areas of AF and to determine functional attributes of four native species for ecological restoration - Schinus terebinthifolius, Psidium cattleianum, Eugenia involucrata, and Ocotea odorifera. The study compared the survival, initial growth, canopy cover, and ground cover throughout 18 months between systematic planting models (pioneer species interspaced with non-pioneer species in the same planting row) and random models (pioneer and non-pioneer species randomly distributed within the plots). The functional attributes assessed were average height growth, survival, susceptibility to frost, canopy diameter, and frequency of herbivory. There were no differences in survival, initial growth, and canopy cover of plants between the planting models. Schinus terebinthifolius presented 87% of the desirable attributes to use in restoration projects in AF with high rates of survival and growth (height growth and canopy diameter). The non-pioneer species had a survival rate of 50% or lower and are not recommended for joint planting with the pioneer species for implementation during the frost season in AF.

RESUMO Acca sellowiana é uma espécie frutífera nativa da Região Sul do Brasil que está despertando grande interesse econômico devido ao alto potencial organoléptico de seus frutos. A principal forma de propagação da espécie é via sexuada. Objetivando determinar a qualidade sanitária das sementes, foram comparadas três formas de detecção de fungos, com ou sem a assepsia superficial, em sementes oriundas de quatro municípios do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul e de três municípios do Estado de Santa Catarina. Foram testados os meios de cultura Batata-Dextrose-Ágar (BDA), V8 (suco de tomate) e o método Blotter Test. Foram identificados os seguintes fungos: Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Penicillium sp., Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Fusarium sp., Curvularia sp., Alternaria sp., Trichoderma sp., Epicoccum sp. e Phomopsis sp. Os meios agarizados são mais sensíveis na detecção de fungos em sementes de goiaba serrana. A assepsia das sementes reduz a incidência de fungos infestantes.

ABSTRACT Acca sllowiana (Berg) Burret is a native fruit species in southern Brazil, which is attracting great interest due to the high economic potential of its fruit organoleptic potential; the main form of propagation of the species is sexual way. Aiming to determine the sanitary quality of seeds, three forms of detection of fungi were compared with and without surface sterilization. The seeds were derived from four counties in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and three counties in the state of Santa Catarina. The culture media of Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA), V8 (tomato juice) and the method of “Blotter Test” were tested. The following fungi were identified: Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Penicillium sp., Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Fusarium sp., Curvularia sp., Alternaria sp. Trichoderma sp. Epicoccum spp. and Phomopsis sp. The agarized media are more sensitive in the detection of fungi in Acca sellowiana seeds. The sterilization of seeds reduces the incidence of weed fungi.

Os metais pesados têm origem principalmente no solo, por meio do intemperismo de rochas ricas nesses elementos. Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, avaliar os teores de Cu e Zn em 58 perfis modais das principais classes de solo do Estado de Santa Catarina, coletados em ambientes naturais não antropizados e derivados de diferentes litologias. Foram utilizadas 111 amostras de solo considerando-se horizontes A e B. Os teores de Cu e Zn foram extraídos com água régia e quantificados em absorção atômica. Para a análise dos resultados os dados foram categorizados utilizando-se, como variáveis, os teores de Cu e Zn; avaliaram-se o efeito de horizonte genético, perfil e o material de origem na distribuição desses metais através das técnicas de análise univariada. Os solos amostrados para este trabalho são derivados, na sua maioria, de rochas ígneas básicas, reflexo da sua quantidade expressiva no estado. Os resultados mostram que, em solos catarinenses, a concentração de Cu e Zn é relacionada à composição geoquímica do material de origem. Assim, referidos elementos podem ser usados na indicação da influência das diferentes litologias como, também, na definição da concentração de base para monitoramento ambiental.

Heavy metals occur in the soil through the weathering of rocks rich in these elements. The objective of this study was to evaluate the contents of Cu and Zn in 58 modal profiles of the major soil types of the State of Santa Catarina, collected in natural soils without anthropogenic interference, and derived from different lithologies. One hundred and eleven soil samples were used from the A and B horizons. The Cu and Zn elements were extracted with Aqua Regia method and quantified by atomic absorption. For the analysis of the results, the data was categorized using as variables the concentrations of Cu and Zn, and the effect of genetic horizon, profile, and rock material on the distribution of these metals using univariate techniques was evaluated. The sampled soils for this study are mostly derived from igneous rocks, which reflects the significant amount of soil derived from these materials in the state. The results indicate that the concentrations of Cu and Zn in South Brazilian soils are related to the geochemical composition of the rock material. So, these elements can be used to indicate the influence of different lithologies and the baseline concentration to environmental monitoring.
